General Household Eligibility Criteria

The Proposer (including all members of their household)

  • Is an individual and not a company or firm.
  • Has never been convicted or charged with any offence or have any conviction or prosecution pending (other than speeding or parking offences). (Note; An individual is not required to disclose a spent conviction when supplying information on past convictions. To determine whether or not a conviction is a 'spent conviction' under the Criminal Justice (Spent Convictions and Certain Disclosures) Act 2016 as amended please click HERE).
  • Has never been refused insurance, insurance cancelled, or special terms or conditions imposed by any insurer. (for example, increased excesses or policy loadings).
  • Has never had renewal declined.
  • You or any member of your household have not made any claim or suffered any loss during the last 5 years, whether insured or not (other than any loss or claim disclosed to us).

The Property

  • Is in a good state of repair and will be maintained in a good state of repair at all times and free from any signs of external or internal cracks other than fine surface cracks in plaster.
  • Is not currently under construction, renovation, extension, repair or redecoration(excluding minor internal decoration work such as painting and wallpapering).
  • Is not subdivided, a flat or a bedsit.
  • Is not within 100 metres of any lake, river, stream, canal, sea, or any other body of water.
  • Is not within 200 metres of any property that has been subject to subsidence, heave, landslip, coastal or river erosion.
  • Has never suffered damage through flood.
  • Is not in an area prone to, or with a history of flood damage.
  • Has never suffered damage through subsidence, heave or landslip.
  • Is not in an area prone to, or with a history of subsidence, heave or landslip.
  • Has never been monitored for, and shows no sign of, damage which may be attributable to subsidence, heave or landslip.
  • Has never been subject to a survey which mentions settlement or movement of the property nor has it ever been underpinned.
  • Including its domestic outbuildings, is not used to store commercial goods.
  • Including its domestic outbuildings, is not used as the place of employment for any employee other than Domestic Employees.
  • Has no trade, profession or business carried out from the property to be insured other than office work carried out at the home that does not involve regular visits to the property.
  • Not left unoccupied for more than 30 consecutive days at any one time.
